Daily Life in Bible Times-Author and Illustrator

Dr. Pamela Gaber and Ms. Valerie Woelfel are uniquely qualified to write Daily Life in Bible Times: What Archaeology Tells Us. Pam studied archaeology at Harvard University and Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Val studied art at Augsburg College in Minneapolis, Ancient Studies at the University of Minnesota and archaeological illustration at University College London. Pam and Val have worked together in archaeology since 1997.

Pam and her husband, also an archaeologist, own a 200 year old house in Cyprus, which they restored using traditional techniques. They spend part of the year in Cyprus and part of the year in the States. Pam was a religious educator for many years and this experience led to the creation of Daily Life in Bible Times. The subjects covered in the book are inspired by the questions asked by the children in her classes. Pam is now a professor at Lycoming College in Pennsylvania. She also directs a field school and archaeological excavation at the site of Idalion in Cyprus. Dr. Gaber is available as a speaker, her specialties are Cypriot archaeology, women and the Bible and the religion of women and children in the ancient world. Contact her at idalion1@aol.com.

Val has been an archaeological illustrator since 1988. She is based out of St. Paul, Minnesota, but spends her summers travelling to different archaeological sites to work as an illustrator and excavator. To create the illustrations in Daily Life Val used a combination of traditional media and computer graphics. The photographs come from Val and Pam's years in the field. Val is available as an illustrator. Her specialties are archaeology and classics. Visit her website, www.archaeoillustrator.com, or contact her at archaeobook@hotmail.com.
